This is particularly important on large farms, as any unnecessary small pieces of material add to the weight of the crop and can increase energy requirements during the drying process.

Grain cleaning process

Cleaning is a very important post-harvest grain preparation process. Post-harvest cereal grains are not a homogeneous material, as they they contain a wide variety of contaminants, including both useful and non-useful ones. Useful impurities include all kinds of afterglow, i.e. inferior grains, lean, underdeveloped, overgrown, decayed, damaged, etc. However, it can be used, for example, as animal feed.
